Fairness and Safety in Sport Regulation

Fairness and Safety in Sport Act

As of Sept. 1, 2025, participation in female-only sports divisions falls into the Government of Alberta's Fairness and Safety in Sport Act (Bill 29). Parents/guardians of athletes aged 12 and over are required to confirm in writing at the time of registration they understand and the athlete meets all the eligibility requirements to compete set out in the Fairness and Safety in Sport Act and Fairness and Safety in Sport Regulation.

Coaches of female-only sports will provide athletes aged 12 and over with AF207-A: Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement of Athlete Eligibility and accompanying parent/guardian letter before the sports season begins (once per year). This form must be returned to the school before sports participation can occur.
